We bought the grill yesterday 5\/19\/13 and put it together. Certain points on the insturstions could have been clearer, but otherwise, no problems. When we were done , we fired it up and grilled some steaks that turned out great. Great grill and value!

First off two notes:\n\n1) I ordered this item online from WalMart and the box I picked up was so severely damaged I was taking pictures of it for the first 20 minutes in case there was damage. There was a giant hole in the bottom and a smaller one in the side and it looked like it survived a flood.\n2) Char-Broil is pushing their newer grills with Tru-Infrared Technology. What they mean is that they have hard to clean metal grates that let heat through but don't allow flames to touch the food. AVOID THESE GRILLS. There is nothing infrared about it, it will triple your maintenance time, and the benefits are not nearly as great as you may imagine. Get this grill and add in a third-party ceramic stone.\n\nOK. Now to review the product itself. It took about 3 hours to assemble it by myself. The directions are very clear, however there is just a lot to do. If you find one in a store where they will put it together for you for free, or cheaply, let them!\n\nIt looks like a winner when it's all put together. It is a monster of a grill. 5 of the burners are standard, no better or worse than you would see in any other grill. The burner on the right however puts out a lot more flame and is excellent for searing. The side burner is a little bit of disappointment after my last Char-Broil, which had a deep lid and a griddle piece. (Thankfully my old parts fit on the new grill!) The frame is solid and well designed, and the doors are - well - likely never going to be used except for when you exchange tanks.\n\nThis grill comes with cast-iron grates, which is excellent, but they do require care and with 4 of them it will likely cost 1\/2 the price of the grill to replace with the same thing if\/when they start to go bad. If this happens I will replace with something cheaper. They come pre-seasoned, however I'd recommend re-seasoning them before you cook for the first time, and at least 3 times throughout the grilling season. Off season mine will be removed and soaked in oil before stored in a plastic container.\n\nThe electric start is very nice, my last grill had one and, like an idiot, every year I forgot to remove the battery off season. The reason I forgot is because it never stopped working - original battery and all. This grill has 3 start points, the searing burner, the right center interior burner, and the side burner itself.\n\nThe interior is nice, but it's rolled steel and can\/will rust away some day if not taken care of - esp the points where the heat shields are slotted to fit into the body. Now the heat shields themselves only cost $5 each to replace, but my last grill died because the holes they plug into can rust out. So keep an eye on this. Once a year clean up the area and use some grill paint to protect if you see any rust.

This is a good product for the money, ised it 4 timnes so far. But I'm guessing the reason it is so economical is bassically it is delivered completely unassembled. It me 3 hours plus to un box and assemble, then there was a lot of garbaged to dispose of. Also, we had ours delivered, FedEx, it came a day late and the guy would not help my 88 year old father move it on the driveway. He simply used his lift gate and plooped it where it fell, when my father asked to move it closer to the house, he shrugg his shoulders and said he could not. I think if I was to purchase another product, I would spend a bit more money for something assembled.

Not a great smoker to may holes to hold heat. Parts broken in the box just plain cheap.

Let me start off by saying I love this grill. My gripe comes from problems with the assembly. One of the vertical sides (parts for the base) was the wrong part. I had to drill a few holes for the grate above the propane holder. So assembly didn't go as expected but the grill performs just fine.

Frist thing, I hate Gas Grill, I say why grill outdoors on a gas grill when you can do that indoors. Im a charcoal grill kind of guy (always). This Char-Broil 800 looks like a gas grill, but not! I like the two panel grill trays, you can have two diff meats going at two diff temps at the same time (kool) also the storage area is large you can putall your stuff under it. I'm pleased with my buy.

Purchased grill 3 weeks ago. Store assembled it, no extra charge. Have used it in a variety of grilling scenarios. The searing unit works super. Have made everything from dogs & burgers, grilled prawns, bar-b-qued chicken to roasting a 12lb turkey and a porkroast. Using the spit was easy & it worked well. The mortorized spit turned predictably. The element for cooking items on spit was less than expected. I used the burners to cook spit items....worked terrific. Burner shields are ez to remove & clean. This grill is a super buy. Has many features of more $ grills. One other nice feature is the spring scale that indicates how much propane is left.

The paint bubbled up and peeled off on the fire box on the bottom and the top. The smoker is a bit drafty which makes it hard to control the temp. It does have a lot of cooking surface and does smoke the food so it serves its purpose if you put some effort into it.

I'm new to smoking and this little smoker has been great to learn on. It does need a few modifications and some TLC while your cooking but a great place to start. I've done chicken and brisket and both turned out great.

Does the job well. Backside gets hotter than frontside. Grill is a pain to clean, but preparation is very quick.

We have not yet completed the setup of this grill. The directions to assemble the grill are the worst. Will review again once completed and we can actually use the grill.

This grill exceeded my expectations. We had a CharBroil before for 10 years that we loved so going with another was a given. The only down fall is the time it took to put together. It took one person about 4 1\/2 hours. Time consuming but well worth it when we showed it off to friends & cooked our first steaks.

I got this a few months ago and it has literally fallen apart. It grilled fine, but get a full size, regular grill and save yourself some money.

Char-Broil has been in my family for years. This particular purchase the Pheonix was even easier than I expected to assemble directions to the tee. Keeps me believing!
