This is a great product at a great price. I started to buy from Amazon but read a review that pointed me to a better price at Walmart.com.\nI have a cable feed at home but no cable box.\nBy using this as my DVR or Tivo I can save hundreds each year.\nVery intuitve design. It is easy to set up and I was recording immediately.\nI purchased the largest (1TB) hard drive because the price was better for the value.\nWith multiple recording formats I always choose the highest definition since I have a 1TB hard drive.\nThe only complaint would be the remote control design.\nPoor layout and cheap tactile feel. Not a big issue though.\nIt comes with a manual and multiple outputs. I chose HDMI for the best picture\/sound.

Bought this product for mostly watching DVD's and old VHS movies because my old VCR\/DVD no longer worked, plus I wanted the option to do the occasional recording--both from VHS to DVD or DVD to VHS, and also the occasional recording of a TV program or from the satellite DVR. It took me many, many hours to even figure out how to get to the set-up screen to even get it set up so it would finally playback a movie. The instructions in the manual didn't work for my TV, so it was all trial and error, until it was finally by sheer accident that I was able to get to the set-up screen. The instructions in the owner's manual are very confusing so I'm not sure if I'll ever be able to figure out how to in-line record anything. The player plays back a movie just fine, but only when I set the TV to the AV input. I have satellite TV so I can only view programs on channel 3, but cannot figure out how to set up the VCR\/DVD unit to be able to record a program while watching TV from that single channel as the unit doesn't work at all when I set the TV to the TV input, like my old unit did. I also couldn't get it to work with my older surround sound system like I could with my old VCR\/DVD player. The cables that came with it were way too short to connect it to my satellite receiver or to my TV with the way my entertainment center is designed. Luckily I had enough longer cables already which saved another trip to the nearest store (70 miles round trip) if I had to end up and purchase ones that were long enough. I thought it had the old style coax connection option because the box said it also had the coax connection, but it was not the same style coax connection as my old one and which is the style of the main connection on my satellite receiver. It disappoints me that these companies have to go and change what had been an easy connection to something that has become a total horror story in trying to get everything set up so you can try to get some enjoyment out of the reason you bought the product in the first place. I would recommend to a friend but with cautions for them to evaluate what they really plan to use it for and how much of a nightmare they want to go through to get it set up to begin with. Just using for playback is great, but I probably won't be using it as often as I'd planned if I can't record a program from the TV or from the DVR.

Great for recording over the air HD TV broadcast programs onto a hard drive for free. It's just like using an old VCR recorder but without tapes or DVDs but recording in much higher quality. The 320 GB hard drive can record hundred of programs and you get a small preview image of the recorded program instead of just a list so you can find the show you are looking for easier. Hookup is easy especially if you use HDMI. The manual is not very user friendly, but has all the information you need if you look hard enough. Picture quality of the recordings is not the same quality as the original program, but close enough and way better than the old VCR tape recordings.\n\nThe two things that I don't like about it is that the recorded picture size is smaller than the original aired program. You can zoom the picture 1.2X but you lose some of the picture on the sides. The other thing is the remote control is not that intuitive with oddly placed buttons but you get used to it after awhile.\n\nOverall it was worth buying. There aren't many options for hard drive DVRs out there so I'm glad that I found this one because I would hate to have to pay a monthly fee just to record TV programs.

Had for a couple of weeks and so far does what it says. Records and plays back in HD off of aerial antenna I hooked up using HDTV connector to TV. It only records ONE program, but you can still watch live TV or watch another previously recorded program , w\/out interrupting recording. The signal strength meter that tells how signal is, is kinda cool. The only thing to bear in mind is ALL RECORDINGS are set up the old fashioned way, with timer's....(the way we all used to do it with VCR's for years), There are no \"shows\", or \"programs\" to point and click like DirectTv\/Dish\/Tivo...and if your show is pre-empted or schedule changes remember it just records time slot and channel you tell it to. Best part w\/ this machine.. NO SUBSCRIPTION (like TIVO) so you buy this, own it and no more money going out month after month! I rate it 4 out of 5 stars only because of lack of dual tuner or guides...... still a solid performer!

bought 2, one for me..one for mother. the unit changes the clock by itself, thus screwing up anything I have set to record (which is VERY difficult because of the layout. ) the unit has no co-axle cable, so i had to spend 30$ at another store for a RF converter.

I like the product. I just had it set up by my son-in-law yesterday. Instructions were confusing. Picture is not crisp, but my son-in-law told me that I need to get the cables (green, blue and red?) and that will solve the problem. I recorded on a DVD-R. I have a lot of VHS tapes that I need to record. When you turn off the unit you have to go on standby. I just put pushed stop, but the unit was still on. I'm still learning about the unit. I like it, it does what I wanted to. Still need more time to get comfortable with it.

I think this is a good system for the price the base is full but I have yet to hear the surround sound coming from the speaker. It is a step up from the tv. speakers.

I bought this dvd player on March 8. I've used it three times and today,March 13,it won't work. The red light is on to show it is getting power. It allowed me to load a dvd but then shut down and won't come back on. Now my dvd is stuck inside. Will be taking it back later today. Hope Wal-mart will give me a refund because I'm sure not wanting another.

Got a Black Friday \"deal\" last year. Never would do anything other than play movies.... I already had one of those. I bought for the wifi and streaming.

About 75% of the DVDs I tried to play in this DVD player skipped or froze. It's a very poor quality machine.
