I needed a wide gate for the opening to my kitchen. This gate certainly fit the bill. I really like this gate!!! It's well made and looks lovely. I really like the fact that it's free standing. I would highly recommend this gate.
I installed this gate at the end of our hallway which gets a lot of foot traffic. We have 3 dogs (of all sizes) and 2 small children. I specifically purchased this gate because there is no threshold that has to be stepped over each time you pass through the gate. I managed to instal it properly and it latches all by itself when it swings shut. This gate is very sturdy. The only issue we have is when we want the gate open, we end up putting one of our kids toys in front of it. It would be great if there were hardware to attach to the wall to keep it open. That is just a small issue. Overall, this gate exceeded my expectations on appearance and performance. I would absolutely buy again.
This is a good looking gate and it fits well with my contemporary decor. Assembly was easy enough. No need to pay someone to do it, even if you're a girly girl, like moi. Thus far, the gate's singular nit is that my very determined and rambunctious 4lb. pom can move it. Yikes! True, he has to work at moving it, meaning he has to hurl his entire body weight against it repeatedly to create momentum or something. But what else does he have to do all day? He's also trying to leap over it and I'm amazed at how high my little fur-ball can jump. Little Brutus must think he's Michael Jordan.
Gate is very well built and easy to put together.\nI wished I had paid more attention as to its height, would have liked for it be be about a foot taller. But overall I am very happy with the gate and it looks very nice.
Sick of plastic baby gates you'll be really satisfied with this gate great for dogs and kids. Do yourself a favor purchase it through Walmart you'll get it cheaper because PetEdge charges an arm and a leg to ship it to you.
I ordered two of these gates to go in front if our two sets of stairs. I actually ordered this to keep my baby from the stairs. Our stairs are very difficult to fit with mounted baby gates. This was the perfect solution. It was also super easy to assemble.
We keep our son's Lab puppy...currently 1 year old, 65 lbs and full of \"puppy\"\nWe have tried other gates and combination of gates but having to climb over them and fuss with them every time we wanted to go in and out it was a royal pain. We purchased 2 of these...20 minutes to install each gate. They are very solid and work like a dream.
The first we ordered had no hardware and sadly walmart.com told me well if you take it back to the store (30min away) and see if they have one, you can exchange it. Or buy the hardware or contact the manufacturer.... Not willing to find out if a local store had it or give me contact info for the manufacturer....I was disappointed in them to say the least, because I didn't think it should be my job to fix their mistake.\nHOWEVER, this is no reflection on the actual Pen. I did contact Iris through their website - shopirisusa.com and they sent the hardware out without a problem!\nThey were great!!\nAnd the pen I absolutely love it. Perfect for my daughter's Shih tzu puppy.\nSo after this was all solved, I bought another for our Call (tiny little bantam type) ducks, Put netting over the top and they love it!\nAs soon as I see them on sale again I plan to get more. Perfect for baby ducks, chicks etc.\nEasy set up, even I was able to put the hinges and latches on and I'm far from handy!\nThis is the ultimate all purpose pen!
6 inch gate extension; gave us exactly the extra width we needed. No tools needed. Remove the screw spindles from existing Carlson Gate; slide the extension into the space where the screw spindles were.....then put your screw spindles on the new extension. Same quality as the original gate.
Needed a tall gate that would swing open for owner access, but unfortunately my puppy dog jumps at the gate and gets out and I do not want to drill holes in the wall to secure it.
I have two, and I never would have guessed how much the dogs would like these dens. I can only assume that the fact that they are airy and open makes the dogs feel like they have their own space without being \"confined\", even though they really are confined. I can only tell you they go in of their own free will, even when they don't have to and seem to enjoy them a great deal. Plus they look nice, too. Easy fold up and light enough to move quickly for cleaning is icing on the cake :)
A strong, sturdy barrier between toddlers and overhead railings
What our shoppers say:
Buy for utility, not beauty
After reading reviews I anticipated that this product would be unprofessional looking, and that is accurate. However, it does get the job done, and our railings are large enough for a child to fit through, so it was a safety hazard. It's not very hard to put up, but will likely require a drill as the hold punch can only go an inch into the plastic. It does create rough edges, but we smoothed them as best we could and so far the kids haven't gotten cut on it. If your railing is a potential hazard, then I recommend, but if you just want to stop kids from throwing toys, I would work on changing their behavior rather than put this stuff up... it's not very attractive.
We bought this for our two small dogs and it has worked out great. Both dog beds fit along with water bowls with room for them to roam. It has been a godsend when we need to leave the house for shopping, appointments, etc. The dogs love it and we often find them in there sleeping while we are home! Also it is very attractive and is a much better buy than the wire pens that you see. So glad we bought this!
Gate works great. Though I wouldn't recommend it for opening less than 52 inches. I needed a gate for 48 inches and due to shortening up the gate as instructed the bracket kind of comes out into the door opening. This could be fixed by simply cutting off the excess of the bracket to avoid running into it. Just make sure to sand\/file down sharp edges after cutting. Overall though its a great gate and serves its purpose well.
