I bought this because I have picky daughters who won't eat a single lump in their mashed potatoes and was tired of having to use a hand masher and then mixer to achieve the consistency needed for them to eat them. It has made the process so much easier for me. I run the potatoes through the river and then I just have to stir in my other ingredients and I'm good to go. Never going back to the old way.

I bought this item with plans to make apple sauce to can this fall, but first time using this, I made guacamole! Rather than pull out a bulky food processor, I just squeezed the avocados through the ricer and got a nice smooth guacamole in half the time! And quick clean up! I also have arthritis in my hands, but was able to use this tool with minimal effort. And it takes less space to store than a food processor.
