Oil based bestie

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have every type of Purdy paintbrush, for I feel they are the best, and I have painted with every type of paint. As of late, I am getting away from latex paint r/t the failure rate as an outdoor paint. Subsequently all the types of oil based has left me needing a brush that handles this medium well. I feel this fiber is the best for oil. Paints with no residual fibers and cleans up well.

My best brush

I will start by saying I am not a professional painter. The first time I decided to try using oil based paint ten years ago, I bought a 1-1/2 inch version of this black china bristle brush to do trim work in a paneled room. It was easy and the results looked fantastic. The paint laid down so smooth you would think I sprayed it. When I decided to repaint all the cabinets in my kitchen last year, I needed larger brushes but could not find the black bristle anywhere, so I bought several white china bristle. I was not happy with the results. I could not get the paint to lay down and thin out. I ended up with brush marks due to the paint layer being too thick. After trying various techniques with no luck, I went back to my one black bristle. It was small and it took a long time to cover larger areas, but once again, the results were beautiful. I guess the key is the stiffness. The black bristle is stiffer than the white and allows you to push the paint, thus thinning it, unlike the white which seems to float on top. I'm getting ready to do my living room, which is all paneled and I guarantee I am either going to find more blacks or spend an eternity painting, but I am not going to use white.
