The belt is stiffer than I expected, so I was initially put off. But I put the belt on and fasten it a bit differently than I have in the past, so I am okay with its stiffness now. Otherwise, it is excellent. I bought it for the ratchet feature. The old style with holes always looked bad at the spot where it was fastened after a short time. And the clamp style belt would not clamp hard enough to hold the belt securely after a time. The only way that I could use that type of belt was to put several layers of paper in the buckle where it clamped to force it to clamp tighter. The ratchet on the ratchet belt does not wear out or look ugly. This belt is a replacement for another ratchet belt, which worked well, but the belt material was of much lower quality than this one, so the "leather" began flaking off. I see no reason that this will happen on this belt. It appears that it will last many years and continue to look good. Bottom line, I believe that this belt has the best and longest lifetime of function and appearance of any belt I have ever owned.
