I got this little Everstart inverter to run a small thermoelectric cooler in my car while on a trip. It worked fine and also charged two phones at the same time( it has USB in addition to the electrical outlets). It will run about 120 watts plugged in to the lighter, or up to 400 if connected directly to the battery. I also plan on using it in an antique car that has no a/c; it will run a fan to help cool and ventilate it in the summer. I had no problem using it, but be aware that the manual is mostly concerned with safety issues and doesn't really give any guidance in using it. It may be confusing to some that the device comes with two different types of cords, but contrary to what the pictures on the website and box shows, only one can be connected to the device at a time. If you wish to change from the lighter plug to the battery clips, you have to loosen two screws and remove one cord and then attach the other. Simple but it's not mentioned in the manual. Anyway it works fine and could prove to be useful in a variety of situations.

This is my second power inverter..........for my boat! We own a Tracker Bass Buggy 16ft with a Mercury 40HP Bigfoot. Small pontoon with limited electronics.

I installed one of these inverters for those overnight trips on Lake Fontana. Our pontoon has three batteries, two deep cycle for the trolling motor, but no way to charge up cell phones or flashlights. I tried one of those plug-in cheap inverters which died quickly. And then I went to one of these industrial strength inverters. 

The first one, due to my stupidity, got trashed from leaving it out in the weather. This time I intend to install this under the steering wheel console. Most likely I will hardwire the unit because I just never did trust those lighter plugs. Unfortunately the boat is at a Marina about 1,000 miles away so I cannot take a picture of this unit installed as we will not be headed up there until fishing time begins next April.

The nice thing is that you have two easily accessible 30 amp fuses so I feel comfortable running anything from additional lights to a small battery powered cooler. Three 12 volt batteries will run/charge for a good amount of time. And every few hours you just take a ride and let the alternator charge up the starting battery. 

If either of our autos did not have inverters built in, which most newer models do, I would install one in both of them. And with the supposed "chip" problem, USB plug-ins and all that might not be as common in the near future.

The 400 watt is very portable and can handle those small jobs that need a little charging while you aren't need any electric outlets. Going camping and need a charge but only brought your house charger. No problem, this will charge that phone too. These will let you add a light or whatever you need to use an outlet and not worry that nothing is close by to charge that flashlight or phone or whatever it is that needs a 110-volt outlet.
 The 400 watt is a great compact device that is useful when you lose power at home too. You can run your car or truck to charge several different things and not worry you only have a cigarette outlet to charge things.
 Put the positive on first and then the negative. When removing take the positive off first and then the negative. Least amount of spark occurs. Do not use in an explosive environment.

Ok...so what do you need if you lose power in your house during a storm or or other catastrophe?
 You won't go wrong with the "Everstart 440 Watt Power Inverter."
 This tool is a marvel. It features 2 AC ports for 400 watt output.
 An LED screen that shows output power percentage , and car battery voltage. The inverter also displays warning texts in real time.
 This tool includes a replaceable fuse on the the end cap. Smart idea.
 It is easy to use...just attach clamps to battery terminal and you have toe juice to power large appliances.
 The inverter is lightweight and very compact. Easy to store in your vehicle or garage. The bright red color helps it to stand out.
 Some additional specifications...800w of surge peak. Input voltage is 12.8 volts DC. Output voltage is 110 volts/60 Hz. Out put wave form is a modified sine wave. and the USB output is 5VDC , 3.1A total.
 All in all, a great power inverter...

What A Great Power Inverter!...

I really wanted this to be able to use a small electric blanket (made to plug into the cigarette lighter of your car) and still be able to charge phones while we were on a road trip. It worked great for that. To be honest, initially when I reading about it I thought you could pull 400 watts through the cigarette lighter attachment. NOT so. Which, when you use a little common sense, makes sense. If you want to pull more wattage you must hook this up directly to a battery. When we camp, it is really helpful to be able to hook this up to a battery outside to run a small electric travel cooler for more refrigerator space than our camper provides. I have been very careful about not overloading the abilities of the inverter (know whatever wattage what you are plugging in pulls). So for my basic needs, so far it is ok. You will, for sure, need a Phillips screwdriver on hand to loosen the screws to attach whichever cables you need. My only complaints- the cords could all have been longer. In the front seat of the car is was cramped to have the inverter squeezed in next to me so the blanket could be plugged in. And while some of this is easy to figure out how to use by just looking at the cables and where the connections can be made, a bit of an instruction book would have been really nice. My husband explained it to me, otherwise I would have been googling how to properly use an inverter.

Ok for what I need.

We wished this had a longer cord from the cigarette lighter outlet, but it will do for our intended use. We plan to use on long trips, so no worries on mounting or placement of the inverter. Compact size is nice, seems durable and works for charging cell phones.

Will help a little

Pretty good 750w AC inverter to run off your car battery. Not really sure what you would need it that much for, but with the small leads you have to be able to leave your hood up to use it. Also the cable leads are a bit exposed in the open, should have had rubber caps to put over them. A bigger and easier to read LED gauge would have been nice also, so I put this in the average category for quality and ease of use.

Just bought today brand new and it doesn't power up at all. Used the cars two 12v cigarette plugs with no success. Even drove the car around in case that was the issue but it wasn't. Called the customer service number on the back of the product but it's not in service!
