For the less mechanically inclined trial fit of parts is recommended. They even included a stubby Phillips ( the cross head ) screwdriver ! Absolutely love these gates!!

We purchased three of these gates for our two grandchildren ages 15 months and seven months. Two of them are at the bottom of two stairwells going up to our house on pilings and one at the top of the stairwell to keep them away from the stairs. The other set of stairs had a gate at the top so we didn't need a fourth one. We had both of grandkids over this past weekend and the gates did the job. Easy to operate, and easy to put together,.

This is my second doggy gate I bought the first one was space any I couldn't get parts for I broke the lower mount couldn't get a replacement so I ordered one from Walmart the brand name is Vomeast a little harder to put together, but I did it and it's very nice It's a little different from the first one, but at least you can get parts if you need them
