McCormick® Grill Mates® Applewood Rub: A Review

I was given the McCormick® Grill Mates® Applewood Rub in exchange for an honest review, and I'm happy to share my thoughts on this versatile seasoning. The product is incredibly easy to use. The bottle features a convenient dual flip-cap, allowing you to either shake or pour the rub. This is a simple but thoughtful design that makes it easy to get the right amount of seasoning on your food, whether you're sprinkling a light coat or using a measuring spoon for a more precise application. McCormick® describes the Applewood Rub as a blend of garlic, peppers, and applewood smoke, and that's exactly what I tasted. The rub delivers a smoky and savory flavor with a subtle hint of sweetness. It's a fantastic way to add depth to your dishes without overwhelming them. A key point for me is that the rub is flavorful without being spicy, which makes it a great choice for a wide range of palates. One of the best things about this rub is its versatility. While it's marketed for grilling, I found it works great on many different foods and with various cooking methods. I personally used it on chicken that I cooked in the oven, and it transformed the dish. The result was a meal that had all the smoky, delicious flavor of a summer grilled meal, even without a grill. I would confidently recommend using this rub on all types of meat, including pork, beef, and seafood, as well as on vegetables. The McCormick® Grill Mates® Applewood Rub is a great product that delivers on its promise. It's easy to use, has a delicious and well-balanced flavor, and is incredibly versatile. It's a simple way to elevate your cooking and add a fantastic smoky, savory flavor to your meals. I highly recommend it.

Great Smoky Flavor

This is a good, smokey seasoning that would be great to add to any chicken or fish dish. I added to my own salmon dish and it was really good, with great flavor and lots of smokiness. I'll definitely buy this. This was sent to me in return for an honest review.

Try Something Special Tonight

I wasn't sure what to expect when I was chosen by Buzzagent to try McCormick's (you know, the famous spice brand) new Grill Mates Applewood Rub. Was it a liquid? Did it come in a single serve pouch? Neither! It comes in a 6 oz spice container so you can either sprinkle a little bit or pour out a lot. Well,I decided to try it on pork chops-fresh,thick, boneless chops with just a bit of fat. I went for the big shebang and poured out enough to totally coat all four of those babies. I just wet the chops a bit and patted dry with paper towels. Then I pressed each of them into the small pile of the rub-each side and all around the edge until they were completely covered. Into a 350° oven they went for 20 minutes. Then I flipped them and they cooked about 20 more minutes (these were THICK chops!) When I took them out I was surprised to see that the rub had crusted over and was crispy and glistening a bit. So how did it taste? Well,it's going to be in the regular rotation of meals from now on. That first bit was so juicy and rich-spicy but not hot. So satisfying and full flavored,my husband thought I made it from scratch! It made a great cut of meat a gourmet affair, imagine what miracles it will perform on lesser cuts?!? I think I'm going to try it on a flank steak tonight... can't wait!
