Not For My Finicky Kittie

I like the mat. It is the perfect size for my need for one of our three litter boxes. The only one sitting on carpet. But my cat, she is definitely finicky, pees on the thing. A full-boat, nothing held back, pee. Of course the mat prevented any spillover so it was easy to clean up. I cleaned it and sprayed it and the next day was the same. So I have removed it. This is a mystery to me. She has never peed outside the box anywhere. It's the other thing that she occasionally does outside the box. Any ideas on a fix would be welcome although I am not aware of how one could respond to a review here. If I find a solution I will try to update this.
