I have been fishing with the Ambassador round reels since I first used my dad's when I was 14. I am 55 now and they remain the most dependable, never break, never have issues reels I have ever used. Bought this last one to replace another brand I foolishly bought. I think I have 14 of them, all work just as perfectly as they did out of the box, and one is 37 years old!

First Round Reel Ever!

Recommended Abu-Garcia reel from Catfish Edge. I've never used a baitcaster/round reel before but I wanted to get into more catfish. What a wonderful experience! I practiced casting with this reel before going out since I am used to spinning reels. Once I got a hang of it, I took it to creek near my home and set some punch bait. This is no joke but within a minute I had a hit! Immediately I noticed how in control I felt when using this reel. Slowly and surely- I was reeling this big cat in! I couldn't believe how nice it felt to land such a large cat with this reel. I am really pleased with the purchase. I will say, the rest of the day wasn't too exciting and I kept getting overuns but I know it is just my inexperience with this reel. I look forward to many, many years using this reel for catfish.
