After trying several much higher priced brands, this pate is the only one that works for our 140 lb. Ridgeback with stomach issues. So, as long as all 3 of our dogs are satisfied, so are we!

Saved my dog's life

By pure luck or Divine inspiration, I happen to buy 4 cans of this ("new" version apparently by what I am reading here) dog food. I knew from my vet that this formula was good in case a dog becomes very ill and isn't able to eat from severe diarrhea or ? and needs to be slowly put back on to solid foods. I found my dog near death 4 days ago in the wee hours of the a.m. She would not drink, not eat her favorite wet dog foods. She could not stand, her gums were grey. She was breathing shallow and fast. She is a beagle. She has NEVER refused normal textured wet dog food. I happen to be able to put support oxygen near her. I laid with her a while. I thought old age (only 14..but?) was taking her. She wasn't complaining. She appeared SO weak, she was resigned to saying goodbye without a fuss and removed herself to a different room which she has NEVER done. I've had her since 7 weeks old. So I know this dog. She is also my therapy dog and very well trained. Just HATED seeing her like that, losing her. I had some liquid vitamin B complex drops for humans. I put a few drops mixed with 1/2 tsp water and rubbed it on her gums and under her tongue in hopes to give her a boost just long enough to take in some water. IDK but, in 5 minutes she was able and willing to lap up about 1/8 cup of water. Soon she tried to stand, only making it 1/3 of the way, lost her bladder, and collapsed. I kept a heated blanket on low as I lay beside her on the floor for another hour. I tried to offer her food. Nothing. She even had enough strength to turn her head 3 inches away from it. Then I remembered I had that special dog food. This IAMS pate. I mixed it up with 50% hot water.. micro'd it just til it was warm to help digest it faster, and not steal her body efforts in any extra way. She LAPPED IT UP SLOWLY about 5 licks, gave me the eyes that said "too thin mom". SO I added more.. then she ate it all. The next 12 hours were very scary..but all went up from there. We ran out of our 4th can late tonight. She has nice pink gums, can walk outside and back in for the first time today unassisted. Originally I had to carry her everywhere. But after her first successful round I described. We both fell asleep for 2 hours and I left it in God's hands from there. My alarm was set to wake me to check on her. She had moved from the other room...12 feet to just feet away from my bed on the floor pillows I set out for her. Your dog food saved my dogs life. I don't know what you changed, I simply BEYOND grateful that whatever you made is PRECISELY what she needed to want to eat it, to keep it down, and digest it til she was wagged her tail for the first time again 10hours after her 3rd feeding. (1/4 can each time plus water as she wasn't drinking much).

The Best Thing For Dog Meds !!

My dog, like many, seems to always find the pill in a Pill Pocket (and pretty much everything else we've tried) and spits it out. These Iams chunks are PERFECT for meds! I even cut a large glucosamine/chondroitin tablet (a chewable which he refuses to chew) into quarters and put the quarters in each chunk. All gone !!!
