Is this item an easy light or wound I need to purchase lighter fluid ?

I won a sample bag of Weber charcoal from weber and I used it and was surprised at how long they burned and it took half the charcoal to grill than I usually have to use to grill. I will be using Weber for grilling my big grilling days i need a long burning charcoal. thank you Weber.

tried other brands, and read a review on another site where he compared other brands side to side. Decided to find Weber and try it. The briquettes are larger and I feel that really helps keep them cooking longer. So far 4 + hours and my WSM18" has kept a constant temp at 240 degrees. Other brands don't come close to that. Told my wife for now on I"m only using Weber briquettes . And when I put in my smoke wood in, it didn't flame up like the other times. Well worth the price.

I'm impressed

Omg did my first overnight smoke. On top of that first time using weber for fuel. This stuff blows my mind. Once I got the smoker dialed in temps did not change more then 10deg all night. After 12 hours the picture shows how much fuel I have left. Just added the cherry for the kielbasa I was tossed on.

My WSM 22.5" ran for 22 hours. I also used it for my charcoal Q grill. Even after all that cooking I still have 2-3lbs of a 20lb bag left.

Even temps for the long smoke

I bought a bag about 2months ago and this charcoal in my opinion and trials, far exceeds Kingsford, and Kingsford is a good charcoal. It's true these briquettes keep burning. Leaves a great flavor too. Thank you Weber.

Best Charcoal Briquettes

I've used Kingsford charcoal for years and when smoking I could only get them to last about 6 or 7 hours.  The Weber charcoal is much more dense and gives a longer more consistent burn.  I was able to not only smoke a pork butt for 8 or 9 hours, but the charcoal was still burning and I threw baked beans on the smoker for a couple of hours and they came out nice and hot and bubbly.  I'm never buying anything but Weber charcoal ever again.

Best charcoal for indirect smoking

I started using Weber briquettes three years ago in my WSM, after trying all the other major brands, I found the Weber product burns more evenly, has less ash and the briquettes don't crumble as easily as others I have tried. I use the Weber briquettes in my 22” kettle and also a small cast iron “Sportsman” grill, with great results and flavour every time. Please keep making them Weber!

Lives up to the Weber name

I've been using Weber briquettes for quite awhile now in my WSM. Started out with the usual suspects and found the amount of waste disturbing, let alone what I might be feeding my family. Is just very suspect. The Weber briq's burn long, hot & consistent. My formula is a layer of Weber briq's on the bottom grate, fill with hi quality lump, make my donut hole, and light a small chimney of Weber briq's to start my WSM. I can go 12hrs easy! If I go pure Weber, briqs, even longer. I have an 18” WSM and have made some of the best brisket, pork butt, beef ribs, sausage & chicken. All to die for. The only issue I have, is my big box doesn't have them anymore. THEY ARE AWESOME!!

BEST ON THE MARKET

Like other reviewers, the recent bags of these that I've bought have been very different than those in previous years. The briquettes are smaller, with a groove in them (similar to Royal Oak).  They burn faster, and leave behind a tremendous amount of ash.  I believe they also burn cooler, but I can't say that with certainty.  This product used to justify the higher price tag, but at this point I will be looking at other options. I currently own a Jumbo Joe, WSM, Master Touch, and a Summit Kamado, so I am clearly a Weber fan, just disappointed in the change to these briquettes.

Formula changed

I have used these for several years and the have been great.  They used to burn long and hot.  The last 2 bags I bought were terrible.  They didn't last very long and they did not burn hot enough.  I grill 2-3 times a week all year round.  I have been using Weber grills for over 30 years.  I have had 2 JumboJoes, a regular Weber kettle grill and Weber Performer (now over 20 years old).  I BBQ my turkeys every year.

Used to be great, things have changed

I have been using Weber Briquettes since 2019 with great results up until now.
I just opened a new bag (purchased from Canadian Tire in 2023) and the briquettes look and perform very different than they have in the past.

The briquettes in the new bag are much smaller and relatively flat.  See photo comparing the old and the new.

The new briquettes produce much more ash than the old briquettes, do not burn as hot or as long, and smell very different when burning.

I called Weber customer support to ask about the change and the person I spoke with insists nothing has changed.

Time to look for another product.
