We have a place on our land where water will fill when we have a good rain. It's not a place we want want standing water. We need this spot as a crossing and have tried some other things but it's a difficult area. We decided to try a pump. So far it has really helped. Although it does have 'cost saving, energy-efficient operation' the pump action is excellent. You do want to make sure there is water running through the pump otherwise (should be underwater) it could burn out. Easy to unplug when not in use. These pumps can be a great addition to a beautiful garden and fabulous for fountain decor.
