No,you simply have to put the screws into holes that are already drilled for the hinges. Easy to do.

It takes 6 small screws (provided) to attach each drop leaf. There are 6 pre-drilled holes that line up perfectly. I was very satisfied that the drop leaves are solid and level with the table top. There is a wedge built in that prevents any sagging of the drop leaf.
