Great Value Beets

I just love the Great Value canned beets. i eat them every day as I add them to my salad. i have enjoyed them for many years. The ingredients is simply beets, salt and water. Carbohydrate count is 5 grams per 1/2 cup serving. Recently I went into the Walmart store and purchased 4 cans. i noticed the lid was a pop top, but the label was exactly the same. the inside of the can was white. i thought how convenient to open. The beets tasted horrible and I felt it wasn't safe to eat. so I opened another can with the pop top and again it was awful. what I did was compare the pop top cans to the cans you open with a can opener. The results were that the new pop top cans added a new ingredient, qhich is Citric Acid. Not only does this added ingredient make the beets taste bad, but it more than doubled the carbohydrate count. Bottom Line - I hope they are not doing away with the original ingredients of beets, salt and water, otherwise I will have to find another brand to buy. As for the 4 cans i did buy, they went into the trash.
