These pants are so cute. They're not a typical denim. They are a knit pant in a denim color. They are wide leg and have pockets which is crucial. There is no drawstring just an elastic waistband. My daughter typically wears a size 12 and we purchased these in a size extra large. They fit her very well and looks super cute with her oversized sweaters
