LAMP THAT EMULATES THE SUN'S RAYS PRETTY CLOSELY

This lamp is not really for people who need to correct or balance their circadian rhythms. It does more than that. It is a lamp that most closely emulates the sun, without the blinding brightness, although it has plenty of light. I shine it on my body and it produces nearly the same effect as going out in the Florida sun. Not as good obviously as the sun, but at least I am not running on empty with no energy all day. It was expensive and difficult to put together, but it gets the job done and that was what I needed more than anything, so to ME, it is worth it.

Easy Assembly

I read many reviews before purchasing and the only worrisome ones had to do with the assembly. My husband did it in 10-15 minutes. He said there may have been improvements to this model because there were none of the issues we were prepared for. I don't know if the light is clinically helping, but it is nice and bright and I like the different color settings

Effective for S.A.D. and good for other uses too

Good light that performs as stated. Assembly: The light was simple to put together. The only thing I did differently from the instructions was to tape the connector that ends up in the bottom of the tube in the base. I used some black electrical tape to wrap the connector once it was plugged in. The instructions didn't say to orient the pole so the controls are over the logo on the base. I had it turned around so the controls were over the plug in the base. I had to loosen the bottom screw and turn it around. Operation: these are touch controls so only a very light contact is required. Very easy if you have a light touch. I wish it had an LED indicator for the spectrum selection. An LED that would turn blue, yellow or red would be great. As it is you select the color by touching the top button to change the spectrum from blue to normal to red and back to blue. Sometimes I let it shine on the back of my hand to figure out the color as I touch the selector repeatedly. It retains the settings when it's turned off and back on. Effect: This does work. I read in the morning with it on medium intensity blue (therapeutic) light. It does stimulate me and I have gotten too much at times and have had to cut back somewhat. It is good to read about how to know the right dose. For me 30 minutes is about right around 7am. This is a good reading light if you use the normal or red color. Walmart shipped to me when Amazon was out and could not sell any units.
