This combo is truly impressive. My son has already caught some bass with it, and the rod feels great. The reel operates smoothly, which is a big plus. I am not a huge fan of the nylon base, but it has performed well so far. We plan to use it exclusively for freshwater lake fishing, so I expect it to last for years without the wear and tear of saltwater. Compared to his previous $40 pole, this one feels like a significant upgrade.
