When you place it on a table , it wont roll off , thanks to the square case . I also like it because it requires 4 not 2 or 3 odd & AA not AAA batteries for longer duration and powerful 190 lumens (equivalent to 25-40 watt incandescant spotlight).The light beam is exploding so brightly in a grayish white wide angle about ten feet iin diameter at 10 feet which is fine for close range with a white spotlight in the center that is much brighter at about 8 inch in diameter. At 50 feet , the spotlight is about 2-3 feet in diameter to give you the rough idea of the spotlight angle which is pretty narrowly sharp and bright that way. I am very pleased with what I just bought. It is rainproof. The layout of the batteries is not informative so I rely on what is shown on the front of the package which is a hint to start with. (There is no diagram inside the flashlight to show which end of battery to insert in first and so forth, an oversight ? ) I also like it as it is a simple on/off light.

First there were flashlights and then LED bulbs. But "lumens"? There was a time a flashlight would go dim or flicker and the first thing a guy would do was to shake it while looking down at it. Please don't do that with this flashlight. I have a very dark basement I never enter, even with the lights on, "just in case" the lights go out while I'm down there. This goes beyond flashlight to noonday sun. And it is clearly well-made and durable. It is inevitable I will buy a few more with the excuse that they will be "presents" for others.
