I've never tried a generic container for my Ninja Creami, I've always used the Ninja cups. That being said, the Ninja cups have held up extremely well with all the freezing and dishwasher use time and time again. They still look exactly the same as when I first got them, even the lids are still perfect and pop on and seal well. I think it's worth the extra money to buy the real deal.

I bought the Ninja Creami because, let's be real, therapy is expensive but frozen treats are slightly cheaper.
