There's a variety of use for them which includes wood, metal and fiberglass. They have sharp threads which pull materials together and hold it secure. They also have a sharp tip and are zinc plated for corrosion resistance and are very durable. They come in a variety of sizes so you can find the right one. I highly recommend Bulldog Hardware.
